Joel received his B.Sc. in Biology from the University of British Columbia and his M.Sc. in Biotechnology from the University of Calgary. He is responsible for discerning and executing on commercialization plans for the organization as well as conducting due diligence on new opportunities. Before joining MI, Joel worked for University Technologies International, the commercialization entity at the University of Calgary. There, he gained extensive experience in the commercialization of medical science technology, managing a large portfolio of patented inventions and leading license negotiations with industry partners and spin-off companies. Prior to this, he gained early experience working at an Alberta-based life science spin-off company, helping them establish an intellectual property estate.
